Matrix, a leader in advanced servo motor braking solutions, introduces a new range of spring-applied brakes. The new SMB brakes are now available in popular standard sizes to meet the demands of the most common servo motor applications. Previously available only as custom-engineered solutions, customers can now easily integrate industry-leading Matrix servomotor braking technologies into their applications faster and more cost-effectively than ever before.
Matrix SMB brakes are designed to provide effective static holding capabilities for load positioning and restraint, as well as dependable dynamic torque performance in emergency stop situations. Matrix worked together with the engineers at Svendborg Brakes, both leading Altra Industrial Motion companies, to design a proprietary friction material engineered specifically to meet the torque, temperature, and energy requirements of servo motor brakes.
Using simulation software, Matrix SMB brakes are designed to optimize the control of magnetic flux to deliver the highest force-to-size ratio possible. All SMB components are manufactured in-house to ensure timely delivery to distributors and customers alike. Easy-to-change flange or rear mounting options, a variety of standard hub options, lean manufacturing, and quick order processing also contribute to a streamlined supply chain.
Since 1985, Matrix has manufactured more than 2000 variants of spring-applied, electromagnetically released brakes to the leading servo motor manufacturers in Europe, the USA and Asia. OEMs worldwide have come to rely on Matrix’s extensive servo motor braking application experience to meet the faster speeds and precision accuracy requirements of the industry.
